Hallway Shoe Storage Solutions

If you find that your hallway is constantly cluttered up with shoes then some hallway shoe storage storage could be just what you need. There is an extensive range of shoe cupboards available, and many are designed with use in a hallway in mind. This means that they are slightly narrower than other styles of shoe cabinets, so they can slot into your hallway neatly while still keeping all your shoes in order.

When you are looking for a hallway shoe cabinet, you will want to take a few things into consideration. The main things are going to be how much space you have in your hallway, and how many pairs of shoes you want to store, along with the budget you have to spend. Careful consideration of these factors will ensure that you get the right size hallway shoe cupboard first time. With so many different styles to choose from, having a clear idea of the size and price range that you are looking for will really help you to narrow down the ranges on offer.

Some of the different style options you will find available include tall cabinets that have pull down drawers that have individual compartments to store your shoes in. Then there are shoe storage benches, which are a brilliant storage solution for most hallways. These are, as the name suggests, a bench that you can sit on, that has numerous cubby holes underneath in which you can store your shoes. They are a great piece of furniture as you have somewhere to sit while you are taking off or putting on your shoes, making you much more inclined to use the storage as it is convenient. Another style that is very popular, especially with those who either don't have many shoes to store, or don't have a large budget, are shoe racks. Most double racks can hold up to 10 pairs of shoes, and they take up very little space, meaning they can slot in discreetly in a corner or under the stairs if necessary.

With so many different types of hallway shoe storage solutions, you will find you are spoiled for choice, so no matter what your requirements are, or how small your budget is, there will be the perfect shoe cupboard out there for you.

Advantages of Having a Shoe Cupboard

Shoes are an unavoidable part of every day life, and unfortunately, unless you have a good shoe cupboard they are also likely to be a messy part of every day life too. Shoes are inherently untidy things, no matter how neatly you try and leave them, you will always find that some kind of chaos has descended on your neat pile of shoes when you return to them. Why a shoe cupboard is such a great idea

No matter how big or small your family is, there will always be an abundance of shoes that need a decent home, and a shoe cupboard is the perfect solution. Shoes always seem to gravitate to a messy pile, with wellies and high heels finding themselves thrown together, gathering dust and generally getting kicked out of the way as they occasionally topple off the heap. If you add children's shoes into the mix then things just get out of hand, with nothing ever being found and shoes getting thrown around in desperation as you look for the other welly, trainer, boot - only to give up and settle for the first pair of shoes that actually emerge a pair!

Shoe cupboards provide neat, easy and stylish storage for everyone's shoes, and make shoe nightmares a thing of the past. The beauty of shoe cupboards is that they come in all shapes and sizes, so there is a cupboard for everyone. Children can have funky bright coloured plastic shoe cupboards that are durable, washable and will be able to withstand the rigours of housing little peoples shoes, and whatever else they might see fit to keep in there. For the grown-ups there are some beautiful shoe cupboards to choose from, although there is nothing to stop you getting a funky bright coloured plastic one too!  If you are looking for something more subtle, there are cupboards that just look like another piece of the furniture, while keeping your shoes neat, tidy and organised. Of course, if you are looking for something slightly different, then the more contemporary shoe cupboards out there are quite fantastic. Take the Rakku shoe wheel for example - a wheel on wheels that displays all your shoes like a piece of modern art, that wouldn't look out of place in the living room.

Being able to locate your shoes and of course everyone elses shoes immediately can save so much time, and arguments over who moved what and where and why. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to get out of the door only to find that you can't find the shoes you need, or that someone else can't find their shoes and therefore isn't going until they do!

Of course the main object of a shoe cupboard is to store all your shoes neatly and eliminate the shoe pile that lurks under the stairs, or in the bottom of wardrobes, but this doesn't mean it can't be a stylish, elegant piece of furniture at the same time. Just because it is functional doesn't mean it has to look boring, so don't be put off by the thought of a dull old shoe cupboard.

Types of shoe cupboard

When it comes to buying a shoe cupboard, possibly one of the hardest parts is actually deciding which one to buy. There is such an extensive range of shoe cupboards out there that there really is something for every taste. Of course the first things to consider when buying a shoe cupboard is how big you need it to be and where it is going to go as this will give you a starting point when deciding on the style of shoe cupboard you are going to buy. Once you have decided on this, you will then need to think about how you want it to look, would you like it to be a focal point, in the hallway for instance, with a mirror and perhaps some drawers or shelves, or something that just blends in subtly with the rest of the decor. Getting the most out of your shoe cupboard

So, having finally admitted you have far too many shoes to be able to keep them in a heap in the bottom of your wardrobe or under the stairs, and actually find a pair when you need to, and have bought a shoe cupboard. Congratulations - you have taken the first step to organised shoe heaven! Now all that is left to do is sort through your shoes and put them neatly away in their new home, where they will stay clean, neat and in pairs, ready for whenever you need them. Most of us have shoes that we only wear once or twice a year and shoes that are just for holidays, and it is these sort of things you should take into consideration when you are deciding which ones to put in your lovely new shoe cupboard. You will know which shoes you wear most, and of course they are prime candidates for the shoe cupboard. Depending on the type of cupboard you have bought will of course determine the shoes you can fit in it. If you have a large shoe cupboard then you will be able to fit in loads of shoes, and maybe even some boots, especially if you have got a shoe cupboard with adjustable shelves. It might be that you went for a shoe cupboard that has sections designed for different types of shoes, with larger sections for boots and smaller sections for flatties.

The key to getting the most out of your shoe cupboard is to use the space it is offering wisely. If you don't have enough room for all your shoes then don't put shoes that you know you only wear on holiday in a prime spot in your shoe cupboard if you have other pairs that you wear much more often that could go in there. Likewise if you have a pair of trainers that actually live in your gym bag, don't take them out just for the sake of it, if they already have an established home that means you will always be able to find them then leave them there.  It is always nice to clean and polish your shoes before putting them away in your shoe cupboard, as once they are in there they will be protected from dust and dirt and will stay in the lovely good as new condition you put them away in. It's also a neat idea to put an air freshener in with your shoes, to keep them smelling nice and fresh, you don't want to dread opening your shoe cupboard door because of the smell - that defeats the whole purpose!

Of course, it may be that you are investing in a shoe cupboard not just for you, but for other members of the family too. This is where the smaller, cheaper ranges of shoe cupboards are very handy, as you can have a cupboard each meaning no arguing over space, or who messed up the shoes, or whose shoes smell so bad. Kids love to have their own little shoe storage cupboard, where they can keep all their shoes and wellies and whatever other little treasures they might feel necessary to put in there.

Do I Need a Shoe Cupboard?

There reaches a point where every good shoe collection needs to be upgraded from a heap in the bottom of the wardrobe to it's rightful place in a shoe cupboard. If you only have a few pairs of shoes then they can be kept neatly in a line where they are easy to see and you will always be able to find a pair. However, once you get over about 10 pairs of shoes, something seems to happen in the depths of your wardrobe, and no matter how neatly you try and organise them and pile them up, you will always be confronted with a jumble of shoes, with trainers trying to pair up with high heels and different colour shoes masquerading as pairs in the dark. There is nothing more frustrating than going to the wardrobe for a specific pair of shoes and not being able to find them, or only being able to find one. Continue reading
